As the
uncertain future makes more demands on our society and our Craft. The
alarm is sounding. It‘s up to us to develop new ideas and hopefully
solutions to increase interest and membership in our great Masonic
Fraternity.
The time was
right for the formation of a Michigan Masonic Motorcycle Association.
Most Worshipful Grand Master Richard Ruhland's slogan says it all to
well “Lets Harness the Horsepower”. Masonic Motorcycle Clubs are not a
new idea and have had considerable success throughout our Masonic
community in the United States and Internationally.
On May 16,
2004 a group of five Masonic Brothers met to set the By-Laws and
Resolutions in motion to form the Michigan Masonic Motorcycle
Association. The founding members are Henry Fair, Larry Heintz, Dale
Black Sr, Dale Black Jr and Lon Fair. The Association received Michigan
Grand Lodge approval and
our By-Laws were signed by Past Grand Master Robert Helmic on May 22,
2005. This association will not replace any existing Masonic motorcycle
groups and it is hoped that we can all work together to support our
great Masonic Fraternity and promote our Masonic Brotherhood throughout
the State. Harmony being the strength and support of all institutions,
but more especially this of ours.
Many Masonic
Lodge members own motorcycles, but haven’t anyone to ride with or would
like to ride more often. What better way to get out and ride than with a
group of Masonic brothers, proudly displaying the Masonic emblem
signifying that which we all hold so close to our hearts and minds.
While we welcome and encourage active participation, there is no
requirement for attendance or service.
There is no
other group of Masons with the eyes of the public on them more than the
Masonic Motorcycle Clubs. We are a motorcycle riding association. We
plan at least two Chapter rides and one Chapter meeting per month. All
members have input on the location and date of rides.
Our intension is to bring together Masons, whose common interest is
motorcycle riding, promoting good fellowship, encouraging membership in
the Masonic Fraternity and having fun. Membership shall be composed of
Master Masons in good standing of a Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons
approved by the Grand Lodge F. & A.M. of Michigan. Association Chapters will be formed throughout the
State of Michigan, Chapter meets will be scheduled periodically at a
